From Swan Yard to St James Mill
We’re super pleased to announce that borne are on to pastures new with a move to St James Mill in Norwich.
The family has grown to 40-strong, with 25 members of staff having joined this year alone (that’s A LOT of borne boards). Our home at Swan Yard has been a fantastic place from which to grow our independent creative agency but like all expanding families the move to bigger premises is an exciting new chapter for us.
It was so important for us to retain our roots in the fine city and be here to continue to support the creative community. It was also important that our new home reflected our creative credentials and we’re proud to say that we designed the space (nearly) all ourselves.
We designed a functional environment with the potential to evolve over time. Moving from three floors to one open plan space meant we had to be mindful of the different needs of our different teams, so worked with each one to determine what kind of space would support and enhance their work.
For Strategy and Social, talking and communicating is key. Low level seating, ply pin boards and a square table encouraging collaboration and discussion is at the heart of their space. Design and Digital need to have a quieter area with plenty of wall to pin and discuss work. A makers table is their breakout space, with swatches, cutting materials and printing reference are kept in order. Client and Essential services are at the forefront, ready to welcome clients and schedule work.
Soft furnishings finish off the look, various sofas and comfy chairs as well as tall bamboo planters at the entrance welcoming guests and staff to our family home. So, if you’re ever passing St James Mill be sure to pop up to floor two to say hello.
See you soon.
